My webventure "Um wher am I" is my favorite piece from this class and was easily the most fun for me to make. Inspired by the digital sludge surrealism and humor of my other projects, I let loose to create a first person based nonsensical journey from the confines of a horribly smelly hoarder car inhabited by a trigger-happy bro gnome and laced with lore and trash. You have no idea how you got there, why you are there, what is happening, and how to get out. I used this as a guide to make my decisions for where to lead to player mostly unpredictable and nonlinear. Sticking to that made the assignment feel more genuinely world building for me, which is why I feel like I could have fun making it go deeper and deeper into delusion if I'd had more time - that said it is finished and executed to my exact specifications, making it a rare project where I didn't run into many obstacles past hunting for the right source images. Despite the cluttery exterior, my design decisions were very intentional in typeface choices, button designs, controlled randomness, and attention to detail. I spent at least an hour collectively combing through different image searches of messy car interiors and more time making slightly different gifs for different scenarios. I found myself being easily immersed while working on this project, looking forward to working on it, and shoving it in front of higher priority projects just because of how enjoyable unfussy it was to make. I can't wait to show it to as many people as I can because it's rewarding to get so much reaction and interaction from one piece, making me wonder how I can get people to participate in new ways in my more serious work.
