I've made a handful of zine before in classes, each time making the mistake of biting off way more than I can chew and ending up too deep into perfecting drawings in a medium that is almost naturally supposed to be rough around the edges and unpolished, or at least zines are well suited and originate from that. I think learning software is the best reason for me to chill with this assignment, loosen up and see where my creation takes me, for the joy of it. I was inspired by the zines that brought a little extra spice to the medium, whether in form factor, additional supplies, or more thought out concepts. I'd like to add a little extra element to mine, but I'm not sure what yet. During class I was drawn to the idea of photoshopping food or turning things into food, and I really like that direction. I was then imagining creating a whole restaurant menu, which could be challenging without words, but lean into the aesthetic of sit down restaurant that usually have smegged laminated big ass menus that have like 40 poorly lit pictures of the select dishes they offer. I was thinking I could make sparkly dish pictures embedded in purposefully poor (however accurate) graphic design layouts, but the dishes are like human parts and junkyard waste and sexy looking bugs or something. I want it to be absurd and jarring but consistent. AHA. The most fitting extra element I could add is to laminate every page just like those menus. I think this is something that won't be too hard on me to complete, but will have enough work for me to learn from, but who knows because illustrator is a question mark for me. Anyways, after writing this I'm more confident about the food menu direction and excited to get started.

Kind of like this, at least in aesthetic, but maybe 1 actual picture image and some border decorations.
